Homework Policy

I do not give busywork homework. I only give homework I think is necessary in order for your child to grasp and/or practice a concept. You can rest assured that anything I assign for homework is necessary for your child to succeed. I don’t want to waste your time or your child’s time.
Most weeks, homework will consist of:
  • a spelling homework sheet due on Fridays
  • the front side of a grammar sheet due on Wednesdays, and the back on Thursdays
  • possibly a reading response activity/reading log
  • Studying for tests/quizzes
Most weeks, tests will consist of:
  • Thursdays  – story comprehension test, grammar test, vocabulary quiz
  • Fridays – spelling test, DLR quiz
Since I do not assign a large quantity of homework, I expect things that I do assign to be returned on time, 100% completed, and neat. If a student does not have their homework on time, he/she will be asked to return it the next day, with no academic penalty. He/she will be asked to “move the behavior clip to yellow,” since he/she was not responsible to complete the homework. Of course, I do understand that life happens, so if something has happened that has caused your child to be unable to complete the homework, I definitely understand. Please just jot me a quick note explaining the situation.
As you know, things change, but until further notice, this is what you can count on weekly.
